Through this program, ACTS provides door-to-door rides for elementary school aged children between their childcare providers and schools. The focus of this program is to expand job opportunities for low-income working parents by alleviating their child's transportation issues during the school day. The cost of the Childcare Transportation Program is based on a sliding scale that is dependent on each household's income.
Since ACTS is a coordinated transportation system, the schools and childcare centers with the greatest number of children needing the service are enrolled first. If a child needs transportation to an area where the program is not currently serving, ACTS will do its best to accommodate that child's needs.
The Deputy Secretary of Penn D.O.T. nominated this program for a national award.
