Head Start "Explores Art"

Head Start's rooms one and two recently completed a study on Exploring Art by hosting an Art Show for families and friends. The children prepared for the show by experimenting with different art medium and styles including painting, pastels, computer art, pottery, photography, portraits, abstract, sculptures and papier-mâché. Several families, classrooms, staff and volunteers attended the show and refreshment reception.

 
The Learning Tree Participates in Hop-A-Thon

The children at the Learning Tree Childcare Center participated in a Hop-A-Thon on April 24, 2006 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Hop-A-Thon coincided with Global and National Youth Service Day, allowing the children to be involved in two very important issues. The money raised from the Hop-A-Thon will help provide research for Muscular Dystrophy as well as providing an opportunity for children with MD to attend summer camps.
The Learning Tree raised a total of $447 to benefit Muscular Dystrophy.

 
Head Start Hosts "Spring Fling" for Families

Modified School Year/Home Based familes enjoyed an evening of fun on March 13th for the "Spring Fling".Sixty people attended and families socialized during dinner and then participated in family activities such as;Bunny Ring Toss, Made hats and baskets, Fishing, Live Bunnies to pet, Created a Family Spring Mural, Egg-cellent Messages (parents wrote messages to their children. Adult Literacy provided the story and each family received a book, Egg Hunt,door prizes.The parents also took the opportunity to conduct a Parent Center Committee meeting by taking a final vote on how to use the remainder of their Parent Activity Funds.Results are;Pittsburgh Zoo trip and Family Picnic.
