Financial Literacy Classes

Financial Literacy classes are designed to positively affect the financial future of participating families and to provide participants with a better understanding of how to make good financial decisions. Emphasis is placed on creating a family budget, which involve activities to include the entire family. Some topics covered are goal setting, avoiding predatory lenders, mortgage readiness, and understanding your credit. Participants will learn how they can obtain a free copy of their credit report. Emphasis will be place on the effective use of credit and the method to repair one’s credit report. The various types of credit as well as the “vocabulary” of credit will covered. Participants will be able to recognize the importance of credit in obtaining assets and how poor credit will prevent asset attainment.
