4th Annual LCCAP Tip-Off Classic




New Castle, PA (12/28/2011) - The 4th Annual Tip-Off Classic is scheduled to get underway on January 3rd, 2012 at Ben Franklin Early Learning Center in New Castle. The first round of tournament play will consist of local boys teams within Lawrence County grades 5 and 6. Tournaments at a later date will include girls teams in grade 5 and 6 followed then by all 4th grade and under. CEO, Tom Scott Thank You From New Castle Football Team

New Castle, Pa. (10-14-2011) – CEO of LCCAP, Tom Scott, is one who says a surprise can never get past him. Well on Friday October 14th during the Board Meeting at Grant St. Superintendent George Gabriel, of the New Castle School District, showed up and presented an encased football signed by all of the New Castle High School football players. This was to honor and thank LCCAP and the CEO for feeding the football team after practices this summer at Ben Franklin Early Learning Center.

PA State Representative Chris Sainato Visits BFELC for Story Time

New Castle, Pa. (10-14-2011) – The PA Pre-K Counts class of Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Costa at LCCAP’s Ben Franklin Early Learning Center, was delighted to receive a visit from State Representative Chris Sainato in honor of October’s PA Promise for Children celebration. The month long celebration is designed to raise awareness for the importance of quality early education and to celebrate the families, teachers and leaders that help our young children reach their promise every day.

LCCAP’s New Economic Advancement Center a Huge First Round Success

New Castle, Pa. (9-22-2011) – This summer, through the combined efforts of the Emergency & Community Services Department, the Workforce Development Department, and the Health & Education Department, LCCAP was able to launch its new Economic Advancement Center. The Economic Advancement Center provided a redesigned, cost efficient service delivery system that also produced higher customer satisfaction as well.

Early Learning Parents and Preschool Children to benefit from Family Health and Wellness Center thanks to Highmark Grant

New Castle, Pa. (4-25-2011) – Lawrence County Social Services, Inc. has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield to support the Healthy Start Program, an early learning wellness initiative incorporated into the Head Start and Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts programs. Healthy Start includes parent/child physical activity and nutrition/health lifestyles education funded by the Department of Community and Economic Development that is a strategic solution to the local problem of childhood obesity.
