Lawrence County Community Action Partnership Submits Winning Bid

ELLWOOD CITY – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced today a new bid of sale has been accepted by the state Department of General Services for the Youth Development Center (YDC) property in Lawrence County.

The $2 million bid was placed by Lawrence County Community Action Partnership (LCCAP), which plans to develop the property to accommodate educational, health care and short-term housing facilities, among other plans.

PA Pre-K Counts

The PA Pre-K Counts program is for children one or two years away from kindergarten and focuses on developing social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills for the child. There is no cost for eligible families at or below 300% of poverty. So for example, a family of 4 could make a gross income of approximately $72,900 per year and still qualify. Early Head Start

The Early Head Start Program at Ben Franklin and Ellwood City Early Learning Centers are available for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years at not cost for families who are working or are in training. *An application for child care subsidy is required, resulting in a possible co-pay. Community Needs Assessment

Lawrence County Community Action Partnership’s (LCCAP) purpose in conducting a Community Needs Assessment is to examine both the strengths of the community and its areas for improvement. Through the Community Needs Assessment, LCCAP will be able to develop a clear understanding of Lawrence County and develop proactive plans with community partners to address any areas of concern.
The Community Needs Assessment will examine the basic composition of the County, the key partnerships and collaborations held by LCCAP, and key indicators of the area’s quality of life.
